The functionality of businesses and how they communicate with their clients is changing due to technological advancements. This technology is changing the environment of the company. The development of 3D visualization technology has advanced significantly.

The use of 3D visualization technologies has boosted workplace celebrations and has grown in significance and influence among many sectors. With the aid of this technology, three-dimensional representations of things, settings, and ideas can be produced. Organizations may improve interaction, decision-making, and general productivity by offering a more comprehensive and genuine experience.

What is the 3D Visualization Technology?

The techniques used to produce and exhibit three-dimensional illustrations of things, scenes, or data are referred to as 3D visualization technology. Computer graphics, graphic design, medical practice, cultural activities, and numerous other fields use this technology. Like how we observe the real world with our eyes, the program allows users to view and interact with objects and situations that imitate depth and positional connections.

Making decisions, improving user experiences, and boosting productivity are all routinely improved by using 3D visualization technologies in a company. Businesses should think of creative and innovative ways to use 3D visualization as technology develops.

Some essential features of 3D visualization technology are as follows
  1. 3D Modeling

We are using computer software to create computer-generated images of things or settings. These models can be anything from straightforward geometric shapes to intricate, detailed architectures.

  1. Rendering

A method of creating a 2D image from a 3D model that incorporates realistic illumination, shading, textures in particular, and substances.

  1. Interactive Visualization

It allows the users to conveniently resize, zoom, and navigate around objects or situations from various perspectives while manipulating and exploring 3D models in real-time.

  1. Virtual Reality

An innovation that submerges people in the world of artificial intelligence and machine learning, frequently with headphones. Users can interact with the virtual world and feel present.

The Evolution of 3D Visualization Technology

3D visualization technology has changed significantly from its beginnings in graphics software. Tecno Phantom V Fold specs;

Right off the bat, this is a big folding phone. At 299g, it’s nearly the biggest. It can justify that heft with at least three good reasons — display, even bigger display, and battery.

When closed, you’ll use the Tecno Phantom V Fold’s cover display, which is a regularly wide 6.42-inch LTPO AMOLED display. Opening the Phantom V Fold up, you get a bigger 7.85-inch LTPO folding screen.

A few things differs it from the Phantom V Flip including the display as we mentioned prior. Under the hood, the Fold comes with a Mediatek Dimensity 9000+ chipset with an octa-core CPU. It comes in two storage variants; 256GB/12GB RAM, and 512GB/12GB RAM — but apparently it will only be available in the 512GB/12GB RAM in Uganda.

The phone also runs on Android 13 coupled with HiOS 13 Fold and is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 45W of wired charging. Tecno claims that the phone can recharge 40% in just 15 minutes, and go on to a full charge in 55 minutes.

The Phantom V Fold has three cameras on the back a 50MP main camera (wide) 50MP 2x zoom (telephoto) camera, and a 13MP (ultrawide) camera and they are able to shoot videos in 4K@30fps, and 1080p@30/60fps. With deepfake technology, it is simple and possible to edit a person’s facial and vocal likeness with alarming accuracy. For the most part, this can be seen as harmless entertainment. But what if your likeness was used to drain your savings or commit fraud?

As the technology to create deepfakes becomes easier and cheaper, the need to guard against these cybercrimes has come to the forefront.

A deepfake is a video, visual, or audio recording that has been distorted, manipulated, or synthetically created using deep learning techniques to present an individual, or a hybrid of several people, saying or doing something that they did not say or do.

These deepfakes are often used in digital injection attacks which are sophisticated, highly scalable, and replicable cyberattacks that bypass the camera on a device or are injected into a data stream.

The Chief Operating Officer of iiDENTIFii, Murray Collyer, says, “Digital injection attacks present the highest threat to financial services, as the AI technology behind it is affordable, and the attacks are rapidly scalable.

In fact, a recent digital security report by technology partner, iProov, illustrates how, in an indiscriminate attempt to bypass an organization’s security systems, some 200-300 attacks were launched globally from the same location within a 24-hour period. As more and more people embrace digital banking, deepfake technology is a serious threat.

As more people set up digital accounts and do their banking online, financial crime and cybercrime have become more inextricably linked than ever before. Interpol states that financial and cybercrimes are the world’s leading crime threats and are projected to increase the most.

Collyer noted that “Deepfake technology is one of the most rapidly growing threats within financial services, yet not all verification technologies are resilient to it. Password-based systems, for example, are highly susceptible to fraud. South Africa needs to strengthen their technology to outwit cyber criminals.”

While deepfakes are a severe threat, the technology and processes exist to safeguard financial services companies against this method of fraud.

A growing percentage of face biometric technology incorporates some form of liveness checks — such as wink and blink — to verify and authenticate customers. Liveness detection uses biometric technology to determine whether the individual presenting is a real human being, not a presented artifact. Therefore, this technology can detect a deepfake if it were to be played on a device and presented to the camera.

While many liveness detection technologies can determine if someone is conducting fraud by holding up a physical image (for example, a printed picture or mask of the person transacting) to the screen, many solutions cannot detect digital injection attacks.

Collyer says specialized technology is required to combat deepfakes.

“Within iiDENTIFii, we have seen success with the use of sophisticated yet accessible 4D liveness technology, which includes a timestamp and is further verified through a three-step process where the user’s selfie and ID document data are checked with relevant government databases. This enables us to accurately authenticate someone’s identity,” explained Collyer.

With the right technology, it is not only possible to protect consumers and businesses against deepfake financial crimes but also create a user experience that is simple, accessible, and safe for all.

Collyer will be part of the speakers present at the 8th installment of the AML, Financial Crime Southern Africa Conference. The high-level conference is currently being hosted at the Indaba Hotel Fourways in South Africa —attended by professionals from banks, insurance and investment companies, service providers, government, and MLCOs from non-designated financial service providers.
