To top-up data, customers can simply go to the MyMTN app or dial *165*64# to purchase affordable data that does not expire.

MTN WakaNet Pocket MiFi device guarantees to offer functionality, convenience, and affordability —all in one. The device is available at all MTN Service Centers across the country and at Banana Phone World Outlet.

If you are a mobile data user, it is apparent that from the time you wake up until the time you go to sleep, you do quite a number of things online. And now, with the latest repackaging of the MTN daily data bundles, you can do twice as much using your mobile data for the same old prices.

This year, MTN set a downward trajectory for data pricing by repackaging its data bundles to offer customers up to 100% more data on the most popular daily bundles at the same old prices.

MTN Uganda CMO Mr. Sen Somdev explained that the MTN data bundles were repackaged to offer more value to the customers at the same old prices, starting from as low as UGX250

Based on the new changes, at UGX250, MTN data customers now get 30MBs, instead of 15MBs and for UGX 500/-, they get 80MBs instead of 40MBs, signaling a 100% increment in the data volume. For UGX1000, subscribers get 180MB instead of 100MBs, which is 80% more. For UGX2000 the customers get 400MBs instead of 300MBs, which is 50% more than before, at the same old pricing. These prices are permanent. These bundles can be purchased via the MyMTN app or by dialing *150*10#.

With data evolving as the most precious commodity of the 21st century, its availability bucked by its affordability is key for driving digital inclusion in Uganda where internet penetration stands at 26.2%, (Digital 2021 Report: Uganda) signaling the future runway for growth available in the country.

Over the years, MTN Uganda has continuously taken bold strides aimed at steering digital inclusion by not only investing in its network but also making it more affordable for the masses.

“While commodity prices in other industries are increasing, we are swimming upstream to ensure that we democratize our mobile data services,” says Somdev.

“It is twice as much data as I used to get for the same price. I can now stay online longer and market my business even more,” says Josephine Ninsiima, a fresh food trader who has harnessed digital marketing for her business.

Like Ninsiima, more mobile data customers are taking advantage of the repackaged MTN daily data bundles to do more online, ranging from education, work, and e-commerce among many other things that come with the availability of affordable data.

MTN Uganda today announced a revision of its daily data bundles launching bigger data bundles at the same existing prices. This move according to the telco, makes the daily data bundles the most affordable bundles, giving customers more MBs at no extra cost.

In a press conference held at the MTN Uganda head offices, Mr. Wim Vanhelleputte, the MTN Uganda CEO noted that the move is a continuous effort by MTN to deliver value for customers at the most affordable pricing and continue driving our customers’ progress through connectivity. “We have revised our daily data offers permanently to give more value to our customers, because it’s our belief that everyone deserves the benefits of a modern connected life,” he said.

These new offers focus on the smaller, most frequently used data bundles by our customers. The repackaged daily data bundles have more MBs but maintain the existing price, giving customers more data for the same old price. For instance, at UGX500, customers will get 65MB instead of 40MB while at UGX1000, they will get 165MB instead of 100MBs (see the table below for the new bundles).

To complement the customer benefit, MTN has invested significantly in optimizing and rolling out new 4G data network sites across the country to enhance positive customer experiences. A recent report from a survey carried out by a global telecom monitoring and testing firm, Rohde & Schwarz, in the last quarter of 2021 ranked MTN’s data as the best in the country in terms of quality of user experience as well as speed, reliability, and coverage.

Mr. Vanhelleputte told journalists, “MTN committed to doing all it takes in terms of providing affordable data, on the best data network. And speaking in the context of the times we’re in, we hope these bundles with bigger MBs will support our customers recover from the effects of the lockdown, whether in business, education, or otherwise.”

Wim Vanhelleputte, MTN Uganda CEO addressing journalists at the launch of the revised daily data bundles that have increased at the same price.

At the end of May this year, MTN Uganda launched a new offer that allows MTN Pulsers to create their customized desired bundles of MTN products within their chosen price range.

Dubbed “Cr8YoBundle”, this allows MTN Pulse customers to choose how much of each product/bundle they want out of a lump sum of money that they are willing to spend on their communication packages.

Cr8YoBundle boasts six bundles including; Data, SWIFT, Work from Home, SMS, Voice, and Learn from Home bundles.

According to Hellen Kirungi, the MTN Uganda Youth Segment Manager, this innovation is meant to empower the youth to be in control and to give them the right communication tools to help them realize their potential.

MTN Uganda understands that today’s young people are aware of what they want, therefore the telecom is giving them the Cr8YoBundle service offer allowing them to choose only what they want to use, in the quantities they want, and only spend their money on that.

Faiza Salima, an ardent consumer of the MTN Pulse Cr8YoBundle service says that it has given her great value for money as she can be able to get all the different kinds of bundles that she requires, in her preferred quantities at a single fee.

Although the Cr8YoBundle has six listed products, the youth are at liberty to choose to buy all the bundles or only what they desire simply stating how much data they need for each, and a total for the selected bundles will be generated, thus giving them more control of their communication choices.

All these bought are created using the MTN Pulse app and when created they are valid for 24 hours from the time of activation.

MTN is keen on hooking up the youth with offers that help them to take control of their lives and fully realize their potential with no fear. It is the reason why MTN has a team dedicated to supporting young people with digital innovations that support their ambitions and lifestyles.

MTN Uganda allows its customers to borrow data bundles and airtime that they can pay at a later time. • Choose your preferred Airtime amount to borrow
  • Once you select a preferred amount, your account will be credited with the requested airtime figure.
  • DONE: To check for your airtime balance dial *131#

In this era, we can’t live or do without internet — there’s no doubt to that. The United Nations (UN) declared that it considers the internet to be a human right. Specifically, an addition was made to Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Therefore, everyone has the right to access internet.

The right to Internet access is the view that all people must be able to access the internet in order to exercise and enjoy their rights to freedom of expression & opinion, and other fundamental human rights. It is therefore made available and affordable to all persons without discrimination. To access it, you need a plan which is offered by your internet service provider (ISP) such as; MTN, Airtel, Africell, Roko Telkom, Smart, Tangerine here in Uganda.

In this article, we are looking and briefly explaining some of data plans that MTN Uganda provides to its customers. We are excluding; the daily, weekly, monthly, and the unlimited bundles.

Work From Home
These bundles were introduced in March this year because of the covid-19 outbreak. The bundles were introduced to encourage people to work from home other than at their offices where there’s almost no social distancing. The bundles were part of MTN’s plan to play a role in fighting the virus.

The work from home bundle is a 1GB data package costing UGX2,000 which is valid from 9AM to 5PM. According to Mr. Wim Vanhelleputte, MTN Uganda CEO, the time interval choosen is the normal working hours and thought it is best that way.

To activate this bundle, you can use the MyMTN app, MTNMoMo app or dial *150*19#.

myPakaPaka
These bundles were introduced in 2016 and they not only come as internet bundles but in voice bundles as well. There are 24 hour bundles and come in three packages. What to note is that myPakaPaka bundles are different for each individual, this is is because MTN is using each customer’s internet usage behavior and average spend to create bundles, completely unique to each customer.

To activate this bundle, you can use the MyMTN app, MTNMoMo app or dial *160*1*2#.

Gaga Wednesday
These bundles were introduced in 2017, and is only available on Wednesday. At time of introduction till 2019, the bundles were only valid for 24 hours but later in 2020 MTN revised them to run for three days.

MTN through this plan offers its customers more volume in data for less. For instance, you find 5GB priced at UGX3,500 and in normal pricing, the 5GB is priced at UGX20,000 for the weekly package.

To activate this bundle, you ought to have the MyMTN app installed on your phone.

Tooti
This 60 minute running bundle was introduced in 2016. At time of launch till 2018, it came in 50MB for UGX300 valid for 30 minutes, 100MB for UGX500 shillings valid for 60 minutes and 1GB at UGX4,500 valid for 60 minutes. But now the bundle only comes at 60MBs for UGX500 valid for 60 minutes.

To activate this bundle, you can use the MyMTN app, MTNMoMo app or dial *150*14# .

Gaga Time
The bundle was introduced this year around March in this time of the covid-19 crisis. The bundle could be birthed from the mid-week bundle Gaga Wednesday. Unlike Gaga Wednesday bundle that run for three days, Gaga Time bundles a valid from 12AM to 10AM coming in for 2GB at UGX2,000 and 5GB at UGX4,000.

To activate this bundle, you can use the MyMTN app, MTNMoMo app or dial *150*1*1*5#.

WakaNet
Like the Work from Home bundles, the MTN Wakanet is also a home internet service introduced in this covid-19 crisis to aid people to work from home.

The starter kit costs UGX245,000 comes with a 4G router bundled with 35GB data that won’t expire till it depletes. However, there are other data alternatives; 75GB for UGX150,000 and 175GB for UGX300,000. The 35GB on the other hand costs UGX75,000.

To activate this bundle, you can use the MyMTN app, MTNMoMo app or dial *177*2#.

Freedom Bundles
These bundles were introduced in 2019, and they never expire unless when depleted. They come in 6MBs for UGX100, 80MBs for UGX1,000 and 1GB for UGX10,000.
