Meta’s social messaging app, WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature that will enable users to share music through their status updates. The company is rolling out this new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.24.22.11.

While this new exciting feature is still under development, and not ready for beta testers, WABetaInfo reports that this new future update will introduce a music button within the drawing editor that appears after selecting a photo or a video for the status update. Just like it’s done on other Meta-owned platforms including Facebook and Instagram, users will then be able to search for songs or specific artists by tapping this button, which will make it easier for them to find and add their favorite music directly to their status updates.

“Once a song is selected, it will be automatically integrated into the status update, allowing users to personalize their photos or videos with music.”  wrote the WhatsApp tracker. “This enhancement will likely make status updates more engaging and expressive, as users can set the mood or add context to their shared content using music.”

Meanwhile, the instant messaging service is also working on several other features including the ability to create and share entire custom sticker packs. This update will enable users to organize their stickers more efficiently by categorizing them into distinct packs directly within the application, without the need to involve third-party apps. You will also be able to personalize your collections, modify packs, and share them easily with your contacts.

WhatsApp is always working on several features to enhance user experience on the app but it should however be noted that not all of them make it to the public release. Some of the features that made it include a ‘Favorites’ Feature to Filter Chats, and a Self-Destruct Audio Message Feature, among others.

Meta-owned messaging application, WhatsApp is currently working on a feature that will soon let iOS users share their status updates to Meta’s photo-sharing app, Instagram. The feature was submitted through the TestFlight beta Program, bringing the version up to 24.8.10.72.

While the update is now coming on WhatsApp beta for IOS, the same feature was submitted last year through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the WhatsApp beta for Android version up to 2.23.25.20. A similar optional feature of sharing WhatsApp status updates on other Meta-owned platforms is currently available for iOS and Android users who wish to cross-post their WhatsApp statuses to Facebook stories.

According to WABetaInfo, once the feature is officially rolled out, users will be able to disable “the new cross-posting experience with Instagram at any time after their manual activation,” The WhatsApp Tracker site further reported that users will also be able to control who can see the content they share to Instagram directly within their Instagram story audience settings.

The website suggested that this integration will enhance user convenience, enabling users to quickly share their moments with their contacts list on WhatsApp and followers on Instagram, without the need for reposting manually.

“By facilitating direct sharing of WhatsApp status updates to Instagram, this feature will enhance the process of updating status across multiple platforms. Rather than crafting and posting separate updates on WhatsApp and Instagram, users will be able to accomplish this task in a single step,” WABetaInfo said.

It is important to emphasize that this new feature will let you post your WhatsApp Status to Instagram without the need to move away from the app. Similar to how you currently have the option to also post on Facebook when uploading a Story on Instagram, with this new update currently under development, you will still be able to simultaneously update your WhatsApp Status and Instagram Story in a single tap.

Faceboook finally ends speculations as it confirms its messaging platform; WhatsApp will start showing Ads in statuses (stories) in 2020. The Menlo Park-based social networking firm made the announcement at the annual Facebook Marketing Summit in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The speculations of adding Ads to WhatsApp app begun last year as it was assumed that the Ads would appear this year.

BeConnectAgency’s Olivier Ponteville during his attendance shared how the Ads will appear on his Twitter account (@Olivier_Ptv).

Since opening statues takes up to the whole screen, Facebook saw this of an advantage to run the Ads. According to what we have received, read and judging from the images shared by Olivier, the Ads will as take up the entire screen as you click through a contact’s status. While going through the Ads, the advertisers name will be shown instead of the contact’s name.

Meanwhile in an article published by BGR, when a user swipes up on the Ad, they will be in position to see more information about the product/service being advertised.

The overall experience looks similar to the Ads available through Instagram stories.

Facebook-owned; WhatsApp, being the mostly and widely used messaging app globally with over 1 billion daily active users, has finally rolled out its Status feature to its Web platform to all users globally.

Unlike its apps, the WhatsApp Status on Web platform is available with a circular icon next to New Message icon on top. On tapping the Status icon, the color of the background changes to a Black theme (by default), and all your friends statuses will appear in a list format.

The WhatsApp Status for Web will be shared with contacts on the app. Meanwhile the firm confirmed that similar to chats, the status updates are also end-to-end encrypted.

Users can still choose who sees their WhatsApp Status just like the mobile version – in three options are My contacts, My contacts except, and Only share with. However, on first set, the status comes by default allowing your status to be visible to all contacts.

Therefore, you can now upload short clips/videos or photos to share with you friends and will later disappear after 24-hours.

Notably, WhatsApp rolled out the photo/video status earlier this year which almost caused a social media outage after media reports reported that users were discontented with the update and criticized the company for copying Instagram and SnapChat. It was until then the firm decided bring back the old text-based status, allowing users to use both status.

Earlier this month, WhatsApp users reported discontented with the revamped WhatsApp Status a few weeks after it was officially rolled out to its mobile app. Users provided mixed feedback over the SnapChat and Instagram Stories lookalike, which really didn’t make sense and preferred the old-text-based status.

After having received the feedback, WhatsApp soon started testing the old-text status in Android beta program. The company also came out to confirm its arrival last week, and now, the old text Status feature is now available via Google Play and rolling out to all Android v2.17.107 users officially, and you can check manually if it’s activated for you or not.

Locating the feature is easy, via menu on the top right corner, go to 1. settings option, and then 2. tap on you profile to open the 3. About and phone number section you will definitely see the old status option back (The old-text status will be the status you last used before the revamped status). On selecting the About and phone number section, it comes with the old default options under the 4. Select your About section and more won’t disappear in 24 hours just like the video status. Scroll through to choose you text-based status or customize your own.

Your contact list will be able to see the status message by opening your contact, when starting a new chat thread, or by viewing group info.

Notably, the revamped WhatsApp status ain’t going anywhere and will remain a constant in a separate tab.

The feature is still available for Android users iPhone users should also get it soon.

Editor’s Note: The feature is rolling out gradual, so you may not see it immediately.[related-posts]

Earlier today, we reported that the Facebook-owned social messaging platform, WhatsApp Inc. was testing a new feature of relocating the attachment button to the text bar right beside the camera icon which has also been redesigned, so as it creates space to separate the video and call button.

The social platform in a new update is also testing on how to bring back its old-text based status after it was reportedly said that many of the app users were discontented with the revamped WhatsApp status – similar to SnapChat and Instagram’s stories.

Now, with WhatsApp’s latest beta, the company is testing the old-text based status. Users who are currently on the WhatsApp Beta Community, are now seeing the revival of the old status message feature in the account’s setting which might arrive in the stable version anytime from now.

As usual, it comes with the old default options of Available, Busy, At school, At the movies and more importantly does not disappear in 24 hours.

Notably, according to reports made by some of the Beta users, the About and phone number section is not visible to some of them. However, PC Tech users are seeing this option available to them despite others being on the community.

WhatsApp isn’t planning on doing-away with its revamped status, NO! they aren’t. It still very much exists in a separate tab where you can add photos and videos that disappear in 24 hours as usual. Therefore users will choose either to use the revamped status or the old-text-based status.[related-posts]

We shall keep you posted!!

Two days to celebrate Facebook-owned social messaging platform, WhatsApp eighth birthday, we shall be celebrating with the new revamped status feature that the company begun rolling out yesterday to users in Europe before it goes global. The feature will ultimately be available to all WhatsApp users on Android, iPhone, and Windows.

The social platform has gotten rid of the boring ‘Hey there, I’m using WhatsApp‘ the default WhatsApp status seen on your first install. The new update to the status, allows users to share photos and videos with your friends and contacts on WhatsApp in an easy and secure way. Yes, even your status updates are end-to-end encrypted.

“Just like eight years ago when we first started WhatsApp, this new and improved status feature will let you keep your friends who use WhatsApp easily updated in a fun and simple way,” Jan Koum writes in a Blog post.

Notably, within the status tab you will see 1. your most recent WhatsApp status – swiping through to see who’s seen your status, similar to who sees your messages in WhatsApp groups, 2. recent updates – showing WhatsApp Status messages that your friends have created in the last 24 hours, and 3. muted, which lists updates from users you’ve muted.

One thing you might want to know is that the new WhatsApp Status update is almost similar to the Stories feature in either SnapChat or Instagram.

There are some reports claiming that, some BlackBerry and Nokia users won’t be getting this update.
